A/B (also called multi variant, split or bucket) statistical testing involves testing a baseline or current model against a new development.

In real terms and in its most basic guise, this means comparing the effectiveness of calling a banner advert "Special Offer" , and comparing click through rates to a banner in the same position called "Offer of the week" Obviously the one to use in order to increase sales will be the one with the highest conversion rates.
